Lawrence R.A. Satuh was born in Navrongo, Upper East Region, on June 15, 1950. He had his elementary and secondary schooling in Navrongo and Nkwatia from 1957 to 1970, before entering the University of Ghana, Legon, to pursue an honours degree in Modern Languages, including Spanish and French. He completed his degree course in June 1974 and proceeded to do his National Service, teaching French and Economics at the Navrongo Secondary School and Notre Dame Seminary/ Secondary School, his alma mater.
He joined the Ghana Foreign Service in September, 1975 and served briefly as Schedule Officer with special responsibility for the Liberation Movements at the then Africa/OAU Division.
He was among the first batch of Foreign Service Officers selected for the Diploma in International Affairs programme newly started at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Legon in October 1976. After successfully completing the course in 1977 he was assigned to the Bilateral Economic Relations Division, until August 1979 when he was selected as one of two representatives from Ghana to pioneer the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Programme in the United States of America.
He obtained an MPA from Penn State University during the one year duration of the Programme and returned to the Ministry in June 1980.
He has served in three Embassies abroad, including Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; Bonn, Germany and Tokyo, Japan. He has also held various positions in the Ministry, including Deputy Director of Passports; Ag D/Europe; Ag D.EGSB; Personal Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and D/MEAB.
He is currently the Supervising Director of the Administration Department which comprises the Human Resources and Administration Bureau, the Finance and Accounts Bureau and the Estates and General Services Bureau.
He is married with four (4) children. His hobbies are gardening, reading and table tennis.
