Profile of His Excellency
Mr. Idirisu Mohammed Biyira, Ghana’s Ambassador to Democratic Republic Of Congo


H. E.  Mr. Idirisu Mohammed Biyira, Ghana’s Ambassador to Democratic Republic Of CongoHis Excellency Mr. Idirisu Mohammed Biyira was born on 9th August, 1953 at Navrongo in the Upper East Region of Ghana. A native of Kupulma in the Sissala District of the Upper West Region, he attended Tarkwa Secondary School from 1966 to 1973, the University of Ghana, Legon, where he earned a B. A. degree (English/History) in 1976.

After his raduation in 1976, Mr. Biyira took his maiden appointment in the Ghana Public Service as Electoral Officer at the Electoral Commissioner in September 1977, in Accra. He was transferred to Cape Coast and was promoted to Deputy Regional Electoral Officer in December 1977. From the Electoral Commission, Ambassador Biyira joined the Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in September 1978 as an A5 Foreign Officer. He rose through the ranks to the top grade of the Foreign Service as an FSO A1 in June 2001.

Between 1978 until January 2004, Ambassador Biyira served in various capacities in our Missions in Cairo, 1984 -1988; Rome (1992-1996); Abuja (1998-2002) and New York.

Ambassador Biyira is married with one child. His hobbies include reading, listening to music and playing golf.
