ECOBANK Ghana is acclaimed the best bank in Ghana's banking industry by independent industry analysts and customers. Noted for high quality service delivery, pioneering role in product innovation, superior technology and its high quality staff, Ecobank Ghana has been voted the best bank in Ghana on five out of the six Ghana Banking Awards organized by Corporate Initiative Ghana (CIG).
Established in 1990 as a private limited liability company and a merchant bank, Ecobank Ghana has been a proactive player in the banking industry and grew to become the leading merchant bank in the country. Following the introduction of universal banking by the Central Bank in 2003, Ecobank became the first bank to be licensed as a universal bank and is implementing its medium term strategy of transforming itself from a predominantly wholesale bank into a retail bank. The Bank got listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange in July 2006 after a successful Initial Public Offer (IPO) which was oversubscribed by 115%. In line with its retail banking strategy, the Bank grew its branch network from 9 to 21 in 2006 and also expanded its ATMs across the Branches and other strategic locations in the country.
With its branches fully networked and systems integrated, the Bank's IT infrastructure is up-to-date, thereby creating the convenience and flexibility in transacting banking businesses at any outlet of the Bank. Some of the IT driven products of the Bank include Internet Banking Service, Electronic Payment System, ATMs, Card Systems and Client Daily Statements via e-mails.
