His Excellency Mr. John Evonlah Aggrey was born in 1947.
After obtaining his B. A. degree from the University of Ghana in 1971, he joined the Foreign Ministry in October, 1971 and underwent diplomatic training in Canberra, Australia, in 1973. He has since attended several courses in administration and diplomacy.
His Excellency Mr. J. E. Aggrey has served the Ministry in various capacities abroad and at base. He was a First Secretary/Councellor in Luanda, Angola, from 1977 to 1981, Counsellor and Minister Councellor in Berlin (German Democratic Republic) from 1986 to 1990, and Minister Councellor/Minister and Deputy Head of Mission in Ghana's Permanent Mission in New York, from 1993 to 1997.
At base he served the Ministry in various Bureaux and Departments, including, Secretary to the Ghana-Ivory Coast Border Demarcation Commission, from 1973 to 1976; Deputy Director/Passport from 1992-1993; Director, International Organisations and Conferences Bureau; Director, Africa & OAU/AU Bureau; Supervising Director Political & Economic Department and Supervising Director Administration.
He also served as the Ministry's Representative on the Ghana National Commission on Children and the National Council on Women and Development from 1998 to 2001.
On the coming into office of the NPP Government, His Excellency John E. Aggrey was appointed Ghana's Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa, with concurrent accreditation to Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi
