Profile of Her Excellency
Mrs. Afua Daaku, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Namibia & Botswana


H.-E.-Mrs.-Afua-DaakuH. E. Mrs. Afua Daaku was born on 27th October, 1944 and had her secondary education at Wesley Girls' High School, Cape Coast. She went on to take a Bachelor's Degree in French and Library Science at the University of Ghana, Legon. After obtaining her Degree, H. E. Mrs Afua Daaku worked as a Librarian at the Ghana Meteorological Services (1967 - 1969), where she was responsible for the overall supervision of the Departmental Library.

In 1969, she assumed the position of a French Translator at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, and two years later, worked at the University of Papua New Guinea as a reference librarian. Throughout this period, she demonstrated a high level of organizational and managerial skills. From 1976 - 1997, H. E. Afua Daaku served as Managing Director of Aviva Services, Accra, a company which retailed locally manufactured and foreign building materials. She also operated as an Agent for UAC/Lever Brothers Limited products.

Prior to her appointment as High Commissioner, she was a Nursing and Activities Director for Seniors Corporation, a U. S based company. Mrs. Daaku is widowed with four children, and enjoys reading Christian Literature, Crocheting and Needle work, surfing the Net and Listening to Music.
