Nestlé and Ghana

Nestlé and Ghana - 50 years and still counting.

In manufacturing and commercial circles, Nestlé and Ghana are often heard together, and with Nestlé’s history in Ghana beginning at the dawn of independence, it is no wonder that the company and the state of Ghana have stood shoulder to shoulder throughout Ghana’s colourful history.

Nestlé Ghana commenced business in Ghana in 1957, under the trading name Nestlé Products Ghana Limited, with the importation of Nestlé products such as milk and chocolates.  In 1968, it was incorporated as Food Specialities Ghana Limited, to manufacture and market locally, well known Nestlé brands.

In 1971, the production of IDEAL Milk and MILO began at the Tema Factory.  The company became Nestlé Ghana Limited in1987 and since then, the factory has expanded to produce CARNATION milks, CHOCOLIM, CHOCOMILO, CERELAC and NESCAFE 3 in 1.  These products are not only made for the Ghanaian market but also for the West African market.

Nestlé Ghana also imports and distributes Nestlé brands such as NIDO Milk Powder, LACTOGEN Infant Formula, NAN Infant formula, NESCAFE Soluble Coffee and under the brand MAGGI are the Bouillons, Seasoning Powders such as NKRAKRA PA and Cold Sauces like KETCHUP, AROME and MAYONNAISE.

In 2003, Nestlé Ghana Limited invested in a new warehouse, the Central Distribution Centre located next to the factory in Tema.  The company also runs sales offices with warehouses in Tamale, Kumasi, Koforidua and Takoradi.

Business activities of Nestlé Ghana have added considerable value to the Ghanaian economy: presently providing direct employment to over one thousand Ghanaians and indirect employment through its local suppliers and other business relationships.  Nestlé Ghana’s contributions to the economy have been duly recognized by the state and the good people of Ghana: this has been demonstrated by the various awards bestowed on the company over the years.  Diligent payment of taxes and other socially responsible deeds makes Nestlé Ghana, a good citizen of Ghana.

Nestlé Ghana in turn acknowledges that without the vision of its shareholders, the brilliant efforts of its employees (past and present) and the support of its consumers, weathering the storms would have been impossible and this success story of half a century would not have transpired.

Such an ideal foundation, in a developing country like Ghana, is inspiring for the future.  The future is bright!

Congratulations to the citizens of Ghana!

Nestlé Ghana invites you one and all to celebrate with pride in our achievements.

Ayeeko!

Nestlé Ghana
